We were tired of children's products designed for the moment of purchase, not the years of use. Glowkin is the opposite proposition: objects engineered for the long, quiet relationship that begins after the box is opened.
Hand-finished plush. Linen-bound storybooks. Numbered illuminated collectibles. Made in small editions, in slow rhythms, with materials chosen to outlive a childhood.
We will never be the biggest plush brand. That's the whole point.
Glowkin is led by founders Maeve and Ren, with a small team of textile designers, illustrators, and a child-psychology consultant who keeps us honest about what 'emotional companion' actually means.

Final finishing, hand-numbering and quality-checking happen in Lancaster, in the north-west of England. Component textiles for the Companion line are sourced primarily from European mills, with a small number of UK suppliers for the linen pouches and kraft boxes. We list country-of-origin transparently on each product page.

Yes. Every textile used on the Companion plush line is certified under the OEKO-TEX Standard 100, the international benchmark for harmful-substance testing in children's textiles. The certification covers the outer fabric, the inner fill, and the embroidery threads.
Not at present. The studio is a working space rather than a retail showroom, and we run small enough batches that a single afternoon of visitors would slow the production rhythm meaningfully. We may host a quiet open-studio afternoon at launch — the Glowkin letter announces dates first.
